Frequently asked questions
Do I need a partner?
No, you absolutely do not need to bring a partner! Although this is by no means compulsory, we will encourage people to switch partners during the class, so you get to know everyone!
What should I wear?
Wear something you are comfortable in that does not impede your movements. After the first couple of classes, we will encourage you to wear shoes that can glide well on the floor (not super grippy).
Do I need to count steps?
Argentine tango danced socially is improvised. Although we may view some sequences of steps to help structure the class, you do not have to count or remember the order of steps to dance!
Am I too old/young to start tango?
Simply put, no! The saying goes, if you can walk, you can tango. It is a gentle dance and the goal of any tango dancer is to continue dancing for as long as possible. There is no wrong age to start, only a right one!
Can I dance if I am pregnant?
Yes, you can! There are many examples of people dancing until late into pregnancy, even performing! Tango is great at strengthening the pelvic floor. Of course, ask your doctor if you have any doubt.
Do I have to lead/follow
Our classes are open-role: anyone is welcome to lead and follow, and in fact, we will encourage you to switch, as learning a bit of the other role is helpful overall.
